Amelie G gets its name from the Parisian Socialite Amelie Gautreau. She was the subject and model for the masterpiece “Madame X”, made by the famous portrait painter John Singer Sargent. She was born into an established Creole family in New Orleans and moved to Paris to become a fashion icon among French society during the Belle Epoque era.
Amelie G was founded 2009 as an online fashion magazine, and the first print issue was launched in the fall of 2010. Sadly, Edmund Kee, Amelie G’s founder, passed away in 2012. Edmund left an indelible mark not only on everyone he met, but also the fashion and style industry in the Gulf Coast, and the staff of Amelie G continue to honor his commitment to maintaining Amelie G’s mission and the magazine’s highest standards of production.
